The IDF confirmed that the Israeli Air Force struck Iranian-backed Houthi targets in Yemen, including three ports—Hudaydah, Ras Issa, and Salif—and a power station in Ras al-Khatib. This marks Israel’s first strike in Yemen in a month.
The attacks came in response to ongoing Houthi attacks on Israel. On Sunday night, shortly before the strikes, the IDF spokesperson had issued a warning on social media.
According to Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV, Israeli airstrikes targeted several areas in Yemen late Sunday. Reuters reported that the main power station in Hudaydah was hit, plunging the city into darkness.
One of the key targets was the Galaxy Leader, a ship hijacked by the Houthis in November 2023. The IDF revealed the Houthis had installed radar systems on the vessel to monitor ships passing through international waters in the Red Sea.
