NEWSRAEL: It remains to be seen what this will mean in regards to people and groups tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, including CAIR, and Ilahn Oman, Rashida Tlaib and others who have been said to have ties to this Islamist group.
President Donald Trump announced that he will formally designate the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) as a foreign terrorist organization, a move he said will be issued “in the strongest and most powerful terms.” Final documents are now being prepared.
The announcement follows a major Just the News investigation into the Brotherhood’s global network. Trump has considered the designation since his first administration, arguing the group’s ideology fuels instability in the Middle East and radicalizes Muslim youth worldwide.
Founded in Egypt nearly a century ago, the MB has long been tied to extremist offshoots. Many US lawmakers — Republicans and some Democrats — have demanded the State Department issue the terror designation. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently said the process had been under review because of the Brotherhood’s many branches.
