Gallant: I served the country for 35 years in the IDF, a decade in the government and the Knesset. This is a long stop on a path that is not yet complete.
Here are the points in Gallant's announcement tonight:
- The recruitment of Orthodox Jews is a necessary security need. Because I stood up for the good of the state, I was removed from my position. The Israeli government is accelerating a law that is contrary to the needs of the IDF and the state. It is about granting exemption to most young ultra-Orthodox people. I cannot accept that.
- There are moments when you need to stop and examine the direction of action.
- The Likud path is my path.
- I warned that the rift during the legal reform was a clear and immediate danger
- The actions that took place during my time exposed every point in Iran to Israeli attack.
- I am responsible for everything that happened on 10/7.
NEWSRAEL: No matter what differences we may feel with some of Gallant's actions, it is clear that he was an important part of the IDF's efforts in attacking our enemies and turning the disaster of 10/7 into an incredible victory over them.
