The Houthis’ continuing attacks on Israel have exposed limits in claims about the group’s devastating military capabilities and raised questions about whether they can be eliminated.
Their strikes have intensified amid threats of “painful responses.” Israel has not been alone in trying to bring the Houthis down: Arab coalition states, the internationally recognized Yemeni government and other domestic parties have all employed political and military tools toward that goal.
Still, these efforts reveal how difficult it is to resolve the standoff, and they prompt debate about the Houthis’ future and the possibility of renewed attempts to overthrow them.
