New details on the strike against Houthi leadership in Yemen: around 20 senior figures were killed, including the group’s head of military operations. An IDF senior officer said the strike demonstrated “the capabilities of a regional power.”
According to Israeli assessments, about 20 Houthi leaders were eliminated in Thursday’s strike. The Houthis are concealing the identities of some of the dead, with several still buried under rubble, making confirmation difficult even for them.
Behind the scenes: Weeks earlier, Israeli Military Intelligence (AMAN) created a special intelligence–operational task force linking several capabilities with the goal of decimating Houthi leadership. Once intelligence was received about a top-level gathering, the strike was launched within a very short time.
The operation was directed by two female officers from AMAN’s Research Division. One of them, a lieutenant colonel on her last day in the role, personally led the attack.
