At a meeting held yesterday in Tianjin between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, China expressed firm support for Iran's right to civilian nuclear energy and opposed any Western threats or coercion.
Wang emphasized that China and Iran have been strategic partners for over 50 years. He stated that China will continue to support Iran’s sovereignty and its struggle against what he called “political bullying.” According to Wang, the path to resolving the nuclear issue lies in dialogue—not threats.
Araghchi said Iran is willing to return to the negotiating table. He stressed that Iran does not seek to develop nuclear weapons but will not give up its right to a civilian nuclear program. China welcomed this position and pledged to play an active role in promoting a diplomatic resolution and ensuring regional stability.
