US Army Interested in Armed Robot-Dog Packs

The robot dog, Vision 60, is already fulfilling various tasks today in IDF units in the Israeli Army.

The US military is considering installing the new robotic turret on dog-like robots, which are quadruped robots in the shape of dogs.

The Technical Directorate at the US Army's Combat Capabilities Development Command has stated that this is the VISION 60 robotic system, on which the new turret of the next-generation XM7 turret by SIG SAUER will be mounted. Similar experiments have been conducted in the past with other robots.

Jane reports that the dog-like robot's significant advantage is its ability to move across all types of terrain better than wheeled vehicles. Therefore, the military continues to explore the integration of the robot with the turret in combat. It is a robot that will operate with a soldier's squad.

The new XM7 6.8mm turret and the automatic XM250 turret will eventually replace previous weaponry of the US military and are already in units for special operations. Soldiers have claimed that the new turret is too large and heavy for an infantry fighter.

The robot dog, Boston Dynamics' Spot 60, is already fulfilling various tasks today in infantry units, such as carrying systems for target acquisition, collecting intelligence, and even carrying explosive materials.

It assists soldiers located in remote areas. The dog-like robot's advantage lies in its high mobility in terrain.
