The American website Axios stated that Israeli and American intelligence information indicates that Iran is planning to launch a "major attack" against Israel from Iraqi territory in the coming days in response to the October 25 Israeli attack on Iran, according to unnamed Americans and Israeli officials.
Missile and drone attacks by the "Islamic resistance in Iraq" against Israel continue, despite American warnings that Iraq will be attacked by Israel if these attacks do not stop.
The "Resistance" announced, through its official channel on "Telegram", that it launched attacks against southern Israel, the port of Eilat and targets in the Golan, while Israel did not report any damage from these attacks.
Iraq's National Security Adviser, Qassem al-Araji, renewed his refusal to use the lands and airspace of his country to attack any other country, and emphasized that they are working to calm the situation.
Al-Araji added, on November 16, that the Iraqi position "rejects the use of Iraq's land and airspace as a starting point for an attack by any country."
Radio Monte Carlo International cited a report issued by the Shiite Coordination Framework, which is the largest political party in the Iraqi government, according to which an Israeli message was delivered by the American side to Baghdad stating that Israel would extend its attacks from Syria to Iraq in response to attacks by Iraqi factions on Israeli targets.
Former Prime Minister Nouri al-Malki's coalition has confirmed that Israel is actually planning to "turn Iraq into Syria", based on the theory that Israel believes that the Iraqi factions are an alternative to the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Hamas movement in Gaza from Iran's point of view, which will force it to transfer its attacks to the territory of Iraq in the near future.
AMERICA INTERVENES
On November 5, the American website "Axios" quoted unnamed American officials as saying that Washington had warned Iraq not to allow Iran to attack from its territory, otherwise Israel would respond.
Axios said the Biden administration warned the Iraqi government that it could face an Israeli attack on its territory if it did not prevent an Iranian attack from its territory, according to what two US officials said.
An American official quoted the Biden administration's message to the Iraqi prime minister, "If you don't do this, we won't be able to stop Israel from harming Iraq."
