Data from the US Patent Office show that the Pentagon, NASA and other key US government agencies have funded researchers located in China in sensitive fields such as semiconductors, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology for 14 years and the US government has granted Chinese entities over 1,000 US patents .

US Congressman John Molinar, chairman of the House of Representatives' Special Committee on China Affairs, wrote in response, "It is alarming that US taxpayers have unknowingly funded over 1,000 patents filed by Chinese entities, with the Ministry of Defense responsible for nearly 100 of these patents."
