Tehran has barely restarted its cash flow, and its leaders are already clashing in public over how oil revenues are being used to rebuild the war machine.
An unusual public dispute has erupted in Iran over the financing of the regime’s military buildup through oil revenues.
President Masoud Pezeshkian said the government had transferred 20 million barrels of oil to the IRGC Aerospace Force so it could rearm and purchase new equipment. At an estimated $70 per barrel, that would amount to roughly $1.4 billion.
But IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohibbi quickly pushed back, saying he was unaware of such a transfer and doubted whether the claim was accurate. He added that funding for the armed forces should come through the state budget, not through direct transfers of oil barrels.
