Syrian political analyst and activist Alia Mansour said that peace with Israel would benefit all sides and should not be viewed as something to be ashamed of.
Speaking on Al Mashhad TV on December 24, 2025, Mansour stressed that regional stability and economic recovery would be better served through dialogue rather than continued hostility.
Mansour stated that Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has repeatedly made clear that he does not oppose a peace process with Israel. She noted that he publicly affirmed this position in response to a question she posed during a press conference. According to Mansour, Al-Sharaa has explained that current conditions are not suitable for a formal peace agreement, and that Syria is presently focused on negotiating a security arrangement. However, she emphasized that he has indicated that once circumstances change, he would be prepared to pursue an open and official peace accord with Israel.
