A political analogy by Minnesota’s governor once again shows how the Holocaust is being misused to score ideological points.
Today marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a solemn moment meant to honor the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis and to reaffirm the promise of “Never Again.”
Yet, on the eve of this day, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz chose to invoke the Holocaust in a deeply troubling way. Referring to protests and fears surrounding immigration enforcement, Walz compared the situation of children in Minnesota to that of Anne Frank, suggesting that future generations would write stories about children “hiding in their houses” in Minnesota, just as Anne Frank hid from the Nazis.
This comparison is not only historically false — it is morally offensive.
