Ukraine said that Russian forces attacked eight regions across Ukraine over the past 24 hours. Ukraine said that several civilians were killed after Russian forces shelled the Kharkiv region on April 1.

Ukraine said that 14 explosions were heard in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions due to Russian attacks on April 1. Ukraine said that its forces have killed over 630 Russian troops in the last 24 hours. A geolocated video has gone viral showing Wagner Group’s black flag on the top of a high-rise building near the centre of Bakhmut.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said that Ukraine has regained some positions around Bakhmut. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu promised to boost munitions supplies to Russian forces in Ukraine.

The Russian military said it wants to win the war with the help of volunteers instead of a new partial mobilization. Russian attempts to increase its military control of the Donbas region have failed, British Defence Ministry said. Zelensky said that Chinese President Xi Jinping “is still hesitating” and that he had an unsuccessful meeting with Putin.

Zelensky warned that Putin will go further and invade more countries if Ukraine fails to defeat Russian troops. Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki said Ukraine will buy 100 Polish-made Rosomak armored vehicles using EU and US funds. US General Mark Milley said that it is unlikely that Ukraine will recover all its occupied territories this year.

There are also concerns in Washington that providing Ukraine with ATACMS could escalate the conflict. North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-un’s sister Kim Yo-Jong has accused Ukraine of having nuclear ambitions.
