In a national address, Benjamin Netanyahu detailed steps his government is taking to strengthen Israel’s military capabilities while reducing reliance on foreign weapons production.
Netanyahu emphasized two guiding principles: strengthening Israel’s power and ensuring greater independence in defense manufacturing.
As part of this effort, he confirmed the purchase of two new squadrons of advanced fighter jets, including F-35 Lightning II and F-15IA aircraft. He said these platforms reinforce Israel’s overwhelming air superiority, which he noted had already been demonstrated in recent operations.
The prime minister also stressed Israel’s operational reach, stating that Israeli pilots are prepared to operate anywhere, including over Iran if necessary. In addition, he revealed that he recently ordered the creation of a special national project to counter the growing drone threat. According to Netanyahu, progress is already underway, though full implementation will take time.
