After five years in prison, the Houthis release Yemeni model Intisar al-Hammadi

Yemeni media reported today that model Intisar al-Hammadi, 23, from Sana’a, has been released after nearly five years in a Houthi prison. Al-Hammadi, born to an Ethiopian mother and a Yemeni father, was arrested in February 2021 on her way to a photo shoot.

She was convicted of adultery, prostitution, and drug use — charges she vehemently denied.

Her lawyer said her health had deteriorated severely during her imprisonment due to poor conditions and neglect.
