A 45-year-old imam of Sudanese origin was arrested on suspicion of committing sexual offenses against an 11-year-old girl in the mosque where she came to pray. His detention was extended on suspicion of abusing a minor under the age of 14.
A complaint was received at the Saratov police station in Tel Aviv about sexual abuse of a minor of Sudanese origin. Following the complaint, an investigation was opened, during which it became clear that the 45-year-old imam of Sudanese origin had been harassing the minor for a long period of time when the minor would come to pray at the mosque of the Sudanese community.
As part of the investigation, findings and evidence were collected, which led to the arrest tonight of the suspect, a resident of Tel Aviv. In the detention extension hearing that took place this morning, the peace court extended his detention until 10.12.23, on suspicion of inciting a minor under the age of 14.
