Ashkelon man detained on suspicion of spying for Iran

The suspect received several thousand dollars for carrying out tasks, police said.

A 37-year-old Israeli from Ashkelon has been arrested on suspicion of maintaining contact with Iranian handlers, the Israel Police and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) said in a joint statement on Thursday.

“The investigation by the [police’s] Jerusalem Central Unit and the Shin Bet revealed that over the course of several months, the suspect had been in contact with Iranian intelligence operatives and was asked by them to carry out various tasks,” the statement read.

The suspect also received pecuniary rewards of several thousand dollars for his cooperation, the statement continued.

I hope that this man from Ashkelon would first be interigate, then put in jail without TV, or cellphone for spying for Iran.
