Growing numbers of Lebanese Shiites are losing confidence in Hezbollah as the community bears the overwhelming cost of the terrorist organization’s war against Israel.
A new study by the Amit Institute for Intelligence and Terrorism Research found that more than 3,700 people have been killed in Lebanon since fighting resumed on March 2, while over one million residents have been displaced.
The heaviest destruction has been concentrated in Hezbollah’s strongholds in Southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley and Beirut’s Dahiyeh district.
According to the study, public discussion within the Shiite community is shifting away from slogans about “resistance” and toward economic survival, housing and reconstruction.
