NEWSRAEL: Turkey, the Islamist arm in NATO, is wasting no time in establishing facts on the ground in Syria
The Turkish Minister of Transportation revealed yesterday that 25 Turkish personnel entered Syria earlier this month, in addition to six trucks carrying various equipment intended for the upgraded operation of Damascus International Airport.
According to the minister, the Turkish team installed, among other things, metal and explosives detection equipment at the airport. Turkey also sent firefighting equipment to the Damascus airport. It was also reported that the equipment in the control tower was upgraded.
It should be mentioned that the Damascus airport, which served as a central route for smuggling Iranian weapons during the Assad era, was attacked more than once by Israel.
Turkish involvement in what was happening at the Damascus airport – the gateway to the country – solidifies Turkey's already significant position of influence in today's Syria.
