Tensions between Israel and Turkey escalated after Israel destroyed air defense weapons supplied by Ankara to the Syrian regime. Now, Turkish media has gone a step further, publishing detailed lists of Israeli sites as potential targets.
GZT, a popular news site closely aligned with President Erdogan and owned by the powerful Albayrak conglomerate, ran a two-part series by journalist Selih Cuma Aydın titled “Israel’s soft belly.” The articles mapped both military and civilian targets, accompanied by aerial images and videos.
The first article focused on strategic assets: Israeli Air Force bases at Nevatim, Hatzor, and Ramat David, the Kirya headquarters in Tel Aviv, and the Iron Dome system. It also listed civilian infrastructure such as the ports of Ashdod, Haifa, and Eilat, as well as the Leviathan and Tamar gas rigs in the Mediterranean. It ended by pointing to the Dimona nuclear research facility.
The second article, dubbed “Achilles’ heel,” spotlighted additional IDF bases and alleged defense industry facilities. Strangely, even fortified underground sites were described as “soft targets,” with simplistic explosion animations attached.
