An online influencer in France named Varda Anwar (pictured) was arrested on Thursday by the police on suspicion of "glorification of terrorism", according to reports in France.
She uploaded a video of herself to Instagram referring to reports that Hamas terrorists put an Israeli baby in the oven during the terrorist attack on October 7 and said: "I wonder if they added salt and pepper first, did they add thyme?" And she added: "What was the addition?"
Following strong reactions on social media to the video uploaded last week, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said on Friday that he had filed a criminal complaint against Anwar.
Prosecutors in France said Anwar was being investigated for "glorification of terrorism" and was taken into custody in Paris early Thursday. The Israeli embassy in France called Anwar's words "disgusting".
