The Houthi militia embassy in Damascus said in a statement that the meeting discussed aspects of cooperation with Syria in the relevant areas, while Maj. Gen. Melchem spoke about the importance of cooperation between the Houthi militia and the Assad regime.

This meeting came after the Iranian regime began sending young Syrians to fight alongside the same militia in Yemen against Saudi Arabia. The Turkish agency Anadolu said in an earlier report that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards had sent Syrian elements affiliated with it to Yemen, to fight alongside the Houthi group on a monthly salary basis.

Islamic Group researcher Amar Jalo confirmed in an interview with the Syrian news agency Orient News that this meeting denies any rumors of a Saudi or Arab rapprochement or normalization with the Assad regime, as Riyadh sees the Houthis as their main enemy and anyone whose ally is considered an enemy And on this basis Riyadh will not normalize its relations with the Assad regime, and this will not allow it to return to the Arab League, and the normalization of some countries with them is intended to save Lebanon from the Iranian aggression.
