WATCH: More Beirut silos collapse amid flames

More grain silos at the Beirut port have collapsed after eight grain towers had done the same between the end of July and early August due to a fire that was never extinguished by the fire squad and against which the authorities decided not to intervene.

Over the night between Sunday and Monday more silos collapsed in the northern part of the structure, which had sustained serious damage on Aug. 4, 2020 in a devastating blast that killed about 250 people, injured over 6,000 and destroyed a third of the Lebanese capital.

The burning of spoiled grain remains at the base of the silos continued on Monday without intervention from the fire squad on the orders of the ministries responsible.
