A woman was shot and killed by a federal immigration enforcement officer after authorities say she used her vehicle in an attempt to run over agents during a targeted operation.
An officer with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday after she allegedly tried to ram federal officers with her car during a targeted immigration enforcement operation.
According to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), protesters attempted to block ICE officers, and one individual allegedly used her vehicle as a weapon in what the agency described as an act of “domestic terrorism.”
DHS said the ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of fellow officers, and public safety, fired in self-defense. “He relied on his training and saved his life and the lives of his fellow officers,” the agency said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while officers who were injured are expected to make a full recovery.
