The Philippine Coast Guard said it removed a floating barrier installed by China at a disputed reef in a "special operation".

The operation came after the Philippines vowed "all appropriate actions" for the removal of the floating barriers.
The barrier posed a hazard to navigation and hindered the livelihood of fisherfolk, Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Commodore Jay Tarriela said. Manila had said the 300-metre-long floating barrier blocked fishing vessel access in the Scarborough Shoal.
