Now, alongside the ground forces in Lebanon, there are also the drone and UAV teams of the 'Sky Rider' unit, giving ground troops a major advantage.
Their activity provides the fighters with additional "eyes" in the field, while they gather intelligence from the air and criminalize suspicious threats. These are the operators behind the aerial vehicles - which also crossed the northern border for the first time.
The Sky Rider unit recently marked another milestone, with their first entry into the territory of southern Lebanon. Since then, they have been helping to serve as another pair of eyes for the forces, and helping to identify threats hiding in the sector - with the help of their typical weaponry: drones and UAVs.
"We entered the village of Kila in southern Lebanon and were attached to the Bedouin battlaion patrol," Lt. S., a team commander in the Sky Rider unit, describes the first mission. "We operated from sunrise to sunset - about 20 sorties a day. Thanks to our tools of action and advance preparation, we aided the troops in guidance and attacks."
