With the attorney general’s approval, the State Attorney’s Office submitted the request to the court under the criminal track of Israel’s Citizenship Law.

This is the first motion of its kind seeking the revocation of citizenship on grounds of breach of loyalty. The two prisoners were convicted of helping Hamas, and the state argues that their actions violated the basic obligations owed by Israeli citizens.
