Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said in a private conversation to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken that "personally he does not care about the Palestinian problem", according to a report in the Atlantic magazine about the contacts between the US and Saudi Arabia for normalization with Israel.
In one of the meetings between the two Blinken asked bin Salman if he could be tolerant of a situation where the IDF would often enter the Gaza Strip for counter-terrorism purposes after signing a normalization agreement - and he replied:
"They can enter every six months, a year, but not right after I sign something like that ".
He explained that he is afraid of public criticism in his country: "70% of my population is younger than me. Many of them have never heard too much about the Palestinian issue. Do I personally care about the Palestinian problem? I don't care, but my people do care, so I must promise Let it have meaning."
