U.S. Congressman Brian Mast, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, raised alarm Monday over reports suggesting the Biden administration may have funded protests against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“These reports are very concerning,” Mast stated, citing past efforts by the Biden-Harris administration that, in his view, have undermined the U.S.-Israel alliance.
Mast pointed to a growing pattern of what he described as attempts to weaken bilateral ties with Israel, including diplomatic pressure on Netanyahu’s government and criticism of Israel's internal affairs. He emphasized that any use of American taxpayer money to influence another democracy’s political landscape would be “unacceptable.”
“We will expose the truth and defend our closest ally,” Mast vowed, promising a thorough investigation. He added that his committee is prepared to subpoena officials and documents if necessary to uncover whether U.S. agencies had any role in organizing or supporting demonstrations in Israel.
