Fahd Al-Shaleimi, president of the Gulf Forum for Peace and Security, warned in a televised interview that Iran poses a direct threat to the Arab world, describing it as an enemy seeking to destabilize the region and seize control of key religious and strategic sites, including Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem.
He argued that Iran’s actions are driven by a broader ideological vision tied to its messianic beliefs, and accused Tehran of working to undermine Arab states by spreading instability, supporting militias, and targeting economic and military infrastructure across the region.
Al-Shaleimi also criticized Gulf governments for what he described as a failure to confront Iran decisively, warning that policies of containment have allowed Iranian influence to expand. Drawing a stark comparison, he described Iran as “a North Korea on the shores of the Arabian Gulf,” suggesting it should be dealt with through stronger and more unified measures.
