More than half of the buildings in the Gaza Strip have been damaged or destroyed since October 7, according to an analysis of aerial photographs conducted by universities in the US.
The analysis indicates that between 144,000 and 175,000 buildings throughout the Gaza Strip have been damaged or destroyed, that is, between 50% and 61% of the buildings in the strip (the damaged buildings are marked in red in the photo above).
According to the analysis, the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip has been hit particularly hard in recent weeks, with more than 38,000 (or more than 46%) buildings destroyed or damaged.
During the last two weeks alone, more than 1,500 buildings were destroyed or damaged there.
