Hassen Chalghoumi is the imam of the municipal Drancy mosque in Seine-Saint-Denis, near Paris. He stood out during the Islamic scarf controversy in France for supporting French President Nicolas Sarkozy's draft law to ban the burqa.

"My wife and children live abroad. When I’m in Paris, Brussels or Berlin, I wear a bulletproof vest. I’m forced to have 6 policemen with me everyday,” says Imam Chalghoumi in an interview with V24 founder Stefan Tompson.
