Speaking to Fox News, National Security Adviser to the President Mike Waltz clarified the administration’s stance on Iran and its nuclear aspirations, stating that Iran will never construct a nuclear weapon.
US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz: “Iran will never have a nuclear weapon”
Waltz: “Shannon, I can speak to what the president has repeatedly stated: Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. That would not only be existential for Israel but also for the entire world, as it could trigger a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.
As for how we achieve that, I won’t get into details here, but the president has made it clear that he is willing to take whatever action is necessary. All options are on the table, including diplomatic talks—if Iran is serious about giving up its entire program and not playing games, as we’ve seen in past negotiations.
But I’ll promise you this: President Trump is absolutely serious—deadly serious—when he says Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, certainly not on his watch. They are an irrational actor, and we cannot allow them to have their finger on the button.”
