US: Bill to combat influence of countries of concern in education
From spreading propaganda disguised as cultural exchange programs to stealing intellectual property, US Congress members allege that US universities and colleges are receiving bribes from countries of concern, such as China.
To shed light on the issue and stop the flow of cash, US House of Representatives members are advancing the “Deterrence Act”.
"We know that the Chinese Communist Party does not give money to these educational institutions for nothing. The CCP may be trying to obtain sensitive national security information. It may just want to influence how students perceive the Chinese Communist Party and China.", says Congresswoman Virginia Fox.
