The Kurdish news agency Rudaw reported the complete failure of ceasefire talks between Kurdish forces and the Syrian regime, despite the highly publicized signing of the agreement just a day earlier
According to the report, the Syrian regime backtracked on key commitments it had made, leading to the collapse of the negotiations.
The development comes only hours after Ahmed al-Sharaa signed the agreement in front of cameras in what Kurdish sources describe as a performative move meant to project control and stability. In practice, Kurdish officials say the regime failed to implement core obligations, including security guarantees and on-the-ground measures.
At the same time, Kurdish forces in Hasakah province in eastern Syria are preparing for what they describe as a “battle to the death.” Reports indicate that Syrian army units have already reached the outskirts of Hasakah city, with tensions at their highest point and large-scale clashes potentially imminent.
