One woman was killed and 16 people were wounded after a vehicle struck pedestrians near Berlin’s Christopher Street Day celebrations
Berlin police launched a major search for a 21-year-old suspect reportedly known to authorities from the city’s Islamist scene following the deadly incident in the central Tiergarten district.
A white vehicle struck several people near the area where the Pride parade’s closing events were being held. One woman was killed, while three of the wounded were left in life-threatening condition, eight were seriously injured and five sustained minor injuries.
Police are investigating reports that additional attackers may have been involved. However, authorities stressed that the motive and precise sequence of events remain unclear. The celebrations were halted and participants were ordered to leave the area.
