Israel’s Water Authority announced on Sunday morning that the Sea of Galilee’s water level rose 2.5 cm during the weekend.

That puts the water level at 1.49 meters below the lake’s “upper red line.” This is the level at which the lake — also known as Lake Kinneret — is full. When the water level goes above the upper red line, water authorities open the Degania Dam, just south of the lake, releasing water into the Jordan River to prevent flooding.
