DM Gantz referred to tensions with Egypt regarding the meetings of Shin Bet chief Ronan Bar in Cairo, where he sat down with Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kemal with the aim of reducing tensions between the countries that arose following the "Dawn Breaking" operation.
Speaking on 103FM radio this morning, Gantz explained: The tensions began after Egypt helped to "give the PIJ a way out", while in Israel the arrests of PUJ terrorists in Judea and Samaria continued after the operation.
"There has been a 'hiccup' in the relations with Egypt, and it is being settled," admitted the defense minister. "I think that the very fact that they are accepting the head of the Shin Bet is a good sign." Gantz also emphasized that Israel did not undertake in the 'cease-fire' agreement in any way to release prisoners of the Islamic Jihad.
