Modern warfare increasingly depends on drones, while China currently dominates much of the global manufacturing capacity and supply chain for their components.
The Trump administration is now looking beyond major defense contractors, opening the effort to start-ups, smaller manufacturers and even skilled hobbyists. The goal is to expand production rapidly, encourage innovation and reduce US dependence on Chinese-made parts.
NTD News spoke with Brent Sadler, a former US Navy officer and Heritage Foundation research fellow specializing in naval warfare and advanced technologies.
Sadler said Ukraine has developed a “monstrous” drone industry out of necessity. Should the war end soon, Ukraine’s large manufacturing capability could increase global supply and lower drone prices.
