Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar issued a stark warning during an address to Paraguay’s parliament, stating that Venezuela’s socialist regime has become the central hub enabling Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis to operate across South America.
Sa’ar is on a fast-paced diplomatic mission in the region and will continue to Argentina on Tuesday for a meeting with President Javier Milei.
In Paraguay, he met with President Santiago Peña and senior officials, praising Paraguay as one of Israel’s strongest allies — bound not only by strategic interests but shared democratic values.
He commended Paraguay for officially designating Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as terrorist organizations. Sa’ar also signed a new security and intelligence memorandum with his Paraguayan counterpart Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, strengthening Paraguay’s ability to fight transnational crime tied to Iran-backed terror networks. Paraguayan Defense Minister Óscar González announced that the agreement takes effect immediately.
