Rep. Jared Moskowitz D-Fla called it the 'first current political candidate suggests concentration camps for American Jews'
Maureen Galindo, who is running in the Democratic runoff for Texas’s newly redrawn 35th Congressional District, wrote on Instagram that she would turn the Karnes ICE Detention Center into a prison for “American Zionists and former ICE officers.” She also added a disturbing claim connecting Zionists to pedophiles.
The remarks drew sharp condemnation, including from Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz of Florida, who wrote that this was the “first current political candidate” to suggest what he described as concentration camps for American Jews. He called on national Democratic leaders to denounce her comments.
Galindo has denied being antisemitic, but her own explanation only deepened the controversy. In a media appearance, she said she was not against Jews, but against “Zionist Jews,” then claimed that “Zionist Jews” control the media, banks and politicians — classic antisemitic conspiracy language dressed up as anti-Zionism.
