ISIS-linked former National Guardsman carried out deadly shooting at Old Dominion University
A gunman identified as Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, 36, opened fire Thursday inside Constant Hall at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, killing one person and injuring two others before being stopped.
Law-enforcement sources say Jalloh was a former US Army National Guardsman who had previously been convicted on federal terrorism charges for attempting to provide material support to ISIS in 2016. He served an 11-year sentence and was released from prison in late 2024.
Authorities say the attacker entered a classroom and asked whether it was an ROTC class before opening fire. The instructor, a retired military officer, was killed and two ROTC cadets were wounded but are reported to be in stable condition.
