US President Donald Trump has rejected an assessment by US intelligence agencies that there is currently no evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons.

Last March, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard testified that there was no precise evidence that the Islamic Republic was developing nuclear weapons.

Trump, who returned from the G7 summit in Canada, told reporters: "I don't care what Gabbard said, Iran is very close to a bomb."
