Ethiopia sent a letter to the Republic of Egypt on July 26 informing it that it will carry out the third filling operation in the current flood season.

Egypt responded today with a particularly aggressive message that was sharply worded to the UN Security Council that "either you accept your responsibility and intervene to stop Ethiopia's unilateral moves, or Egypt will take the necessary measures to ensure and protect its national security."
