A MEMRI report is drawing attention to a deeply troubling issue: the same US combat aircraft types sold to Qatar — the F-15, Apache and MQ-9 — are reportedly the same platforms later shot down by Iran.
The report stresses what it calls a remarkable “coincidence.” Qatar received or sought some of America’s most advanced military systems, along with highly sensitive technology, even though there were Defense Department concerns about the risks involved.
Now, according to the report, Iran has managed to bring down those same categories of US aircraft during the fighting.
That does not automatically prove that Qatar transferred sensitive information to Tehran. But it does raise a serious question that Washington cannot afford to ignore: Did operational knowledge, technical details or platform vulnerabilities somehow reach Iran through Qatar?
