For the first time in nine months, the Israeli Air Force struck a terror infrastructure site near Jenin, from which terrorists had set out to carry out an attack. Shortly beforehand, Yamam (Israel’s elite counterterror unit) snipers had eliminated the cell of three terrorists in a special operation.
During the night between Monday and Tuesday, in a special operation by Yamam forces in the village of Kafr Qud in northern Samaria, snipers from the unit killed a terrorist cell of three who had emerged from a cave on their way to carry out an attack in the area. Following the elimination, the Israeli Air Force attacked the entrance to the cave that had served as the terrorists’ hideout.
According to a police statement, the operation was conducted under Shin Bet guidance and with the assistance of IDF forces, targeting a terrorist cell involved in planning an attack and participating in the terror network in the Jenin refugee camp. Shortly after the elimination, the Air Force strike aimed to destroy the terror infrastructure in the cave. Defense Minister Israel Katz praised the forces for their success, stating:
