NEWSRAEL: Reading this, ALWAYS remember - If the IDF didn't destroy Hezbollah in war, this would NEVER be happening.
Hezbollah is undergoing its most dangerous transformation since its founding in 1982. Following the assassinations of Hassan Nasrallah and Safi al-Din, the group’s military-security wing has weakened, giving way to the rise of political figures tied to the Da’wa Party faction.
Sheikh Naim Qassem, along with Muhammad Ra’ad, Muhammad Fneish, and Mahmoud Qmati, now lead the movement, shifting Hezbollah’s focus from military struggle toward politics. This change sidelines veteran security figures such as Hussein Khalil, Sheikh Muhammad Yazbek, and Ibrahim Amin al-Sayyed.
One of the most dramatic moves has been the sidelining of Wafik Safa, long seen as Hezbollah’s top security operative. His Coordination and Liaison Unit has effectively been dismantled after repeated failures and heavy criticism of his interference in Lebanon’s judiciary and security systems. Sources say his powers are now minimal, and the party is considering appointing a more academic, politically minded figure to manage state relations.
