The IDF chief of staff warned that Israel must remain ready for a rapid return to offensive operations if Hezbollah tries to exploit the ceasefire.
IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir toured the Lebanon front and said that one of Northern Command’s main centers of gravity is now in the Ali Taher and Beaufort areas.
According to Zamir, the area contains an underground fortress that Hezbollah built over the course of 20 years — a major strategic asset designed to support the terror group’s military activity against Israel from southern Lebanon.
Zamir warned that the current ceasefire remains fragile, and that the IDF must stay at a high level of readiness for a possible return to combat operations, the prevention of emerging threats and a rapid transition to attack if required.
