Israel’s consul general in New York, Ofir Akunis, sharply criticized the international community for what he described as blatant hypocrisy in its response to events in Iran.
Referring to the ongoing crackdown by the Iranian regime, Akunis said thousands have been killed in what he called the “Tehran massacre,” yet many of the same actors who rushed to condemn Israel for defending itself against Iran and its regional allies are now silent.
According to Akunis, this silence highlights a deep moral failure and selective outrage when it comes to Iran’s internal violence.
He stressed that while Israel is repeatedly attacked for protecting its citizens, the world is unwilling to confront the Iranian regime over mass killings of its own people, exposing what he called a clear double standard in global discourse.
