Assessments from the Bint Jbeil front indicate that Hezbollah is sustaining significant losses as Israeli forces tighten their encirclement of the town.
According to the latest operational picture, Hezbollah appears to be defending Bint Jbeil primarily for its symbolic importance rather than its current strategic value, as pressure mounts from multiple directions.
Israeli forces have established a western siege line advancing from the Debl–Ain Ebel axis, while an eastern “encirclement hook” is applying additional pressure from the Mhaibib–Kounine area. Simultaneously, the IDF’s 98th Division, including the 35th Brigade, is pushing northward from Maroun El Ras, with Bint Jbeil itself now serving as the central urban combat zone.
NEWSRAEL: WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
Bint Jbeil has long been a symbolic stronghold for Hezbollah, often portrayed as a “city of resistance.” Its potential fall—or even severe degradation of Hezbollah forces there—would carry major psychological and propaganda implications, signaling a weakening of Hezbollah’s grip in southern Lebanon and reinforcing Israel’s operational momentum on the ground.
